Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Feeling nervous about dental treatment is common. At Territorial Dental Clinic, nitrous oxide sedation may be available to help eligible patients feel more relaxed and comfortable during their appointment.
Nitrous oxide sedation, sometimes referred to as laughing gas, is a light form of sedation that is breathed in through a small mask placed over the nose. It is commonly used in dentistry to help reduce anxiety while allowing patients to remain awake and able to respond during treatment.
A Calmer Dental Experience
Nitrous oxide sedation may be helpful for patients who feel anxious about dental visits, have difficulty sitting comfortably through treatment, or need additional support during certain dental procedures.
Before recommending nitrous oxide sedation, our dental team will review your medical history, discuss your concerns, and determine whether this option is appropriate for your needs.

What to Expect With Nitrous Oxide Sedation
During your appointment, nitrous oxide and oxygen are delivered through a small nose mask. As you breathe normally, you may begin to feel more calm and at ease. You will remain awake throughout your visit and our team will monitor you during treatment. Once the procedure is complete, the nitrous oxide is turned off and oxygen is provided. Our team will assess you before you leave the clinic and provide any instructions needed for your visit.
Is Nitrous Oxide Sedation Right for You?
Nitrous oxide sedation is not recommended for every patient or every procedure. Your dentist will determine whether it is suitable based on your health history, the type of treatment being completed, and your individual needs.
